This privacy policy informs you about the nature, scope, and purpose of the processing of personal data (hereinafter referred to as “data”) within our mobile application “GO SunPilot” (hereinafter referred to as “app”).

2. Overview of data processing
This app was developed to be as data-efficient as possible.
The processing of your data can be divided into the following categories:
Technically necessary data: Data that is required for the download and basic functionality of the app (e.g., through app stores).
Function-related data: Data that is retrieved from external services (Solcast) to provide the core function (PV forecast). This data is used to calculate the PV forecast and is not stored in the system.
Analysis and improvement data:
Anonymized data that helps us understand and improve the app. This data may include information about how you interact with the app, such as the number of times you open it, the pages you visit, and the features you use.Locally stored data: Data that is only stored on your device.
Data for in-app purchases: Data processed by app store operators for the purpose of processing purchases.
These points are explained in detail below.
3. Detailed description of data processing
a) Data processing by app store operators (Apple, Google)
To download, install, and perform updates to our app, you use third-party services (Apple App Store, Google Play Store). These providers process data as their own controllers. This typically includes:
Device and connection information: Type of terminal device, operating system and version, unique device IDs, IP address.
User account information: Your Apple or Google ID.
We have no influence on this data processing. The respective operators are responsible. Please refer to their privacy policies for more information.
b) Data exchange with the Solcast service
To show you the PV yield forecasts, our app accesses the programming interface (API) of the Solcast service (a service from Power Factors, LLC).
Prerequisite: You need your own user account with Solcast. The creation and management of this account is subject to Solcast’s privacy policy:
https://www.solcast.com/privacy-policyType of data processed: To retrieve the data , enter your personal Solcast API token and prediction URL in our app. This token and URL will be sent from the app to Solcast via an encrypted HTTPS connection, to retrieve your forecast data. No further data is sent from of our app to Solcast.
Retrieved data: We only retrieve the PV yield forecasts for the systems you have stored in Solcast and display them in the app. This data is only processed temporarily for display in the app.
Purpose: Provision of the core functionality of the app (display of the PV forecast).
Legal basis: The processing is necessary for the fulfillment of the user contract with you (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR), as this is the main function of the app.
c) Analysis of app usage for improvement
We have a legitimate interest in continuously improving our app , correcting errors and increasing user-friendliness. For this purpose, we collect pseudonymized usage data.
Type of data processed:
Usage events: We record aggregated usage events. Examples include: Information about the completion of the onboarding process, the time of an in-app purchase made (without reference to your person or payment information) or the frequency of app usage. These events are recorded without direct personal identifiers such as name or email address.
IP address: To transmit the usage data to our server, processes your IP address for a short time for technical reasons. However, this IP address is not permanently stored by us or linked to the usage events in order to establish a personal reference . It is used exclusively to ensure network and information security (e.g. to defend against DDoS attacks) and is deleted or anonymized after 7 days at the latest.
Pseudonymous character: Since the IP address is processed for a short time, the data collected is pseudonymized data. By separately processing and promptly deleting/anonymizing the IP address , we ensure that we do not draw any direct conclusions about your person from the usage events.
Purpose: Statistical analysis of user behaviour to optimize the app design, to prioritize new functions and to ensure the stability and security of our systems.
Legal basis: The processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR) in the improvement and economic optimization of our offer and in ensuring system and data security.
Right to object: You have the right to object to this processing at any time (see section “Your rights”).
d) In-app purchases
In our app, you have the option of purchasing additional functions for a fee via in-app purchases.
Processing: The entire purchase process (including payment) takes place exclusively via the respective app store operators (Apple App Store, Google Play Store). We do not receive any personal payment data from you (such as credit card numbers) from these providers.
Data to us: We only receive a anonymized confirmation from the store operators that a purchase has been made in order to activate the corresponding function in your app.
Responsibility: The app store operators are responsible for data processing as part of the payment process. Their data protection provisions apply.
e) Local storage on your device
The app stores configurations, such as your Solcast API token and URL, exclusively locally on your end device. This data is not transferred to us or third parties. You have full control over this data and can remove it by deleting the app data in the system settings or by uninstalling the app.
f) Contact and feedback by e-mail
Our app offers a function that you can use to send us direct feedback or request support.
Process: If you use this function, an email is prepared in the app and sent to the standard email program installed on your device (e.g. Gmail, Apple Mail) . The app itself does not send an email. You have full control over the content and can view and edit the email before sending it or cancel the process. The email is only sent when you actively click on “Send” in your email program.
Type of data processed: If you contact us at in this way, we process the data that you transmit to us at:
Your e-mail address and, if applicable, your name (as configured in your e-mail program).
The content of your message.
Optional technical debug information: At your request, technical information (e.g. app version, device type, operating system version, app data, etc.) can be attached to the email to help us analyze the error. You can view this information before sending and remove it if necessary.
Metadata sent by your email provider (e.g. date, time).
Purpose: The processing of this data serves exclusively for the purpose of processing your request, providing you with support and improving our offer based on your feedback to.
Legal basis: The legal basis for processing your data after sending the email is your implied consent by actively contacting us (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR). In addition, the processing of is based on our legitimate interest in the effective processing of user inquiries (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR).
Storage period: We will store your inquiry for as long as is necessary to process your request and for any follow-up questions. After that, the data will be deleted, provided that there are no statutory retention obligations (e.g. for business letters) to the contrary.
4. Forwarding of data
Your data will not be passed on to third parties by us , with the exception of the following cases:
Solcast: To authenticate and retrieve your forecast data, your API token and URL are transmitted to Solcast.
App store operators: To process in-app purchases and to deliver the app.
Legal obligation: If we are legally obliged to do so (e.g. by order of the authorities).
5. Storage duration
Locally stored data: Remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Anonymized analysis data: As this data has no personal reference, it is not subject to the deletion periods of the GDPR. It is stored by us for as long as it is relevant for statistical purposes.
6. Your rights as a data subject
You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

7. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

8. No automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR in the context of this app.
9. Changes to this privacy policy
We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy, so that it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services. The new privacy policy will then apply to the renewed use of the app.
