GO SunPilot – the PV forecast app for your solar power

When will your solar system generate enough power for the washing machine? GO SunPilot answers this question – with a precise solar power forecast for your PV system or balcony power plant. At a glance you see when there is surplus, switch on your appliances at the right time and reduce your electricity costs. No smart home hardware, no cloud requirement, no tracking.

The problem: Solar power goes to waste when nobody uses it

A PV system produces most of its electricity at midday – but washing machine, dishwasher and dryer often run in the evening when power from the grid is expensive. Without an expensive battery storage or smart home system, you’re giving away money: surplus is often fed in for just a few cents – or with balcony power plants not compensated at all – while grid power quickly costs over 30 cents per kilowatt hour.

The solution is simpler than you think: switch on appliances when the sun delivers. You just need to know, when that is.

The solution: Forecast instead of guessing

GO SunPilot retrieves the solar forecast for your location from weather service Solcast and converts it for your system – whether it’s a 600-watt balcony power plant or a 15 kWp rooftop installation. The result:

  • Clear charts for yesterday, today and tomorrow with three probability levels
  • Traffic light system per appliance: Green = switch on now, Yellow = later today, Red = not today
  • Push notification as soon as there is enough solar power for your appliance
  • Savings calculator: After each use you see how much electricity, money and CO₂ you saved

Who is GO SunPilot for?

Balcony power plant owners: Your plug-in solar device has no smart control? It doesn’t need one. GO SunPilot tells you when switching on is worth it – the app also supports systems with less than 1 kWp.

PV system operators without energy management: You have a rooftop system but no system that automatically controls appliances? The app provides the basis for your decision – the rest you do with the press of a button on the appliance.

Battery storage owners: Running high-consumption appliances during sun hours relieves the battery and extends its lifespan.

EV drivers: Find the best time windows to charge with 100% of your own solar power.

Privacy is not optional – it's standard

GO SunPilot was developed by a German PV system operator for everyday use. That’s why: no advertising, no tracking, no data sharing. Your system and consumption data stays locally on your device. The only external connection is retrieving the weather forecast from Solcast.

Ready in three steps

  1. Download the app and start demo mode – try all features immediately, without any system data or account.
  2. Create a free Solcast account – our manual guides you step by step through the setup (approx. 10 minutes).
  3. Add appliances and start saving – enter electricity price, base load and appliances, done. The app notifies you when the sun delivers.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Yes. The app is manufacturer-independent and doesn’t need a connection to your inverter. The forecast is based on location, orientation, tilt and capacity of your system.

No. GO SunPilot calculates the optimal time and notifies you – you switch on the appliance yourself. That’s exactly why the app works with every household.

You test free for 28 days in demo mode. After that there’s an affordable monthly or annual subscription with another 30 days risk-free trial during which you can cancel free of charge at any time.

Solcast provides precise solar forecasts worldwide. The Home Hobbyist account is free and allows up to two PV strings. Our manual explains the setup step by step.

Yes, explicitly. System capacities from 0.1 kWp are supported – even when Solcast itself only calculates from 1 kWp, the app corrects this automatically.

Currently GO SunPilot is available for Android. An iOS version is planned – feel free to contact us for the beta test.
